Jacob or Esau?

Who do you look like? Jacob or Esau?

We all remember the story of Jacob and Esau in the book of Genesis. Even if you never read about it, you surely heard of it at some point. It’s that popular!

When you hear about it, it baffles you. How can someone sell their birthright for food? What foolishness? It wasn’t even Jollof rice or spaghetti! Nobody wants to be an ‘Esau’, but sometimes most people fall into that category more than they realize.

Birthright; a right, privilege, or possession to which a person is entitled by birth. Synonym: Inheritance.

The Bible calls us Children of God, joint-heirs with Christ. Our Father is a King, and He has made us Kings, Revelations 1:6. So the kingdom of God by 'the new birth', is now our inheritance.

But what plate of lentil stew (idol/god) are some leaving their birthright for?

Everything of God is eternal, so therefore our inheritance is eternal.

' “Do not store up for yourselves [material] treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal; '

Matthew 6:19-20

_______________

Jesus tells us that;

'From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize]. '

Matthew 11:12

_____________

We gotta be violent with our inheritance, and that was what Jacob did. Violent for that birthright from birth. His consistency was admirable.

Don’t let the world fool you into abandoning your precious birthright.

I pray for us, that His grace and Spirit will keep us going. We will not miss our inheritance in Jesus name. May the good Lord give us strength to overcome any plate of lentil stew that catches our attention. Amen

DAVILANDA

Romans 10:9-10
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

CALL TO SALVATION.
