Look On The Bright Side
'Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. '
“...Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...”
Someone was asked, when you hear the phrase ‘look on the bright side’ what comes to mind? and he said it means ignoring the negative things and focusing on the positives. This gentleman isn’t wrong, but there’s a deeper meaning which every man must come to facts with.
Notice I did not say ‘look on a bright side’ but I said ‘look on the bright side’.
Meaning, there’s a definite sight of brightness that one must acknowledge to truly live peacefully and joyfully.
We find people living in distress, frustration, and sadness, searching for a purpose. There’s nothing they have not tried, but they are still not moving, there’s still this void and emptiness they feel inside. You leave them, 5 years, 10 years, some 30 years and they are still looking the way you last saw them, looking miserable, looking lost. In some cases, they might have acquired some form of wealth and luxury, accomplishments, but still can’t be used as a good example.
And you wonder, what have they been chasing? what have they been trying to feed within them? In truth, they have been chasing nothing, they’ve been chasing what seemed like everything but in actuality, it was all void and that’s why they started feeling that way within themselves.
You might even be reading this, and you find yourself in this situation, you are looking back and it seems like all you have are wasted years and when you try to look forward all you see is darkness. It’s not too late to look on the bright side, it’s not too late to finally let Jesus fill you up with lights, purpose, and direction. He will restore the wasted years, if you trust in Him.
'And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. '
He will give you the perfect plan for your life!
The scripture I highlighted earlier Hebrews 12:1-2 says, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. He’s the author and finisher, who else could we look up to if not him.
It’s like an inventor of a phone device, he knows every single thing about the phone, there’s nothing he doesn’t know about the device, because he made it and so, before releasing it to the public, he creates a manual, to guide the public, and whenever a problem arises, the inventor expects that the buyers go through the manual, and if the problem isn’t easily resolved, they meet the inventor himself.
That’s how it is with God and His word. To journey in this life the way He planned for us to, He expects us to study the word of God (The Bible). This way our focus is on Jesus, and we are sure that life’s journey never gets dark because we can’t be confused, discouraged, or afraid.
'Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. '
Your fellowship with God is very important, your oneness with him is your success strategy for life, have you ever heard of the ‘Master Planner’ or the ‘Extraordinary Strategist’?
This is who God is to His children, He takes the wheel and lets you sit peacefully. But first, you have to accept him, acknowledge him, and understand that He is the Lord of your life,
He is the father of your Spirit, and ‘without Him was not anything made that was made.’
How do you want to live triumphantly without His guidance? Where and how will you start? If you don’t choose to accept him, the bitter truth is you will only journey so far to come back to Him. So why not let Him be the Lord of your life?
The songwriter says, ‘I look to you’, another songwriter says, ‘Look up child’.
If you don’t look to Him, you will dash your feet on a rock, but if you do, He will place you on the solid rock, that grinds things that are inconsistent to the God-life to powder.
I would rather be on the winning side, the bright side, the side of peace, joy, faith, perfection, lights, testimonies, increase, excellence, wisdom, prosperity and so much more!
Oh! what a sight to behold!
