During a visit to the NASA space center in 1962, President John F. Kennedy noticed a janitor carrying a broom. He interrupted his tour, walked over to the man and said, "Hi, I'm Jack Kennedy. What are you doing?" "Well, Mr. President," the janitor responded, "I'm helping put a man on the moon."
To many, this man is just an ordinary cleaner whose work doesn’t require any specialized skill or qualification. The man never thought in that regard, he considered everything he did as part of a whole “getting a man on the moon.” Every day for him, as he gets ready for work, was exciting just to think he is a part of those working to get man on the moon.
'For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: '
In Romans 11:13 Paul tells us how he magnifies his office. He never took his role in the gospel as insignificant or less than what other apostles who had been there with Jesus from the beginning had. This thought and mindset characterized a lot concerning his life and ministry. We could now understand certain things he said and what he meant.
For example, in Acts 20:24 after being warned of the things that should befall him in Jerusalem he replied, “None of these things move me, neither I count my life dear unto myself, so that I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”
What is your role today in your family, school, organization, or society? Magnify your office!
What you do is vital and very much important if you look close enough. Therefore, put in the right attitude, plan, and focus on it. When you do so with this mindset you will be amazed at the results.
More importantly, is your participation in the gospel today. What does it mean to you? Are you a pastor, cell leader, partner, singer, usher, security, cleaner, or whatever your work might be. Do you magnify your office? Are you aware that the accomplishment of the vision of the ministry is dependent on what you are doing? It’s time to take it to the next level because you magnify your office.
