Practicing the Fruits of The Spirit: Love

By @Tea_withJerry

Love is the basis of the entire gospel of Christ. For it was for God’s love for us that sin was dealt with and oneness with Him was birthed and even so He has called us to love one another even as He has loved us

So what is love ? It is wrapped up in 1 Corinthians13 :4-8. Let's read,

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away."

1 Corinthians13 :4-8 TPT

On the fruit of love, various testimonies were wrought and below is a few of what those testimonies taught me. From fights with siblings, to supporting of friends, to putting others before ourselves, to calming anger with gentle words to mending broken relationships, where do we begin?

It is evident from the testimonies that love truly can be expressed in endless ways because just when you think you’ve experienced it all, another opportunity presents itself to go even deeper.

“Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when the blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense.

Love indeed is a safe place:

And one of the many things it teaches is humility, where it is said to be defined as the ability to respond to absolute submissiveness for the lordship of Jesus through the word of God. Not to how you feel or perceive yourself in a situation but solely to the word. As Jesus laid down His life for us in submission to the father, so did Omoseh lay down her emotions for the sake of reconciliation with her brother. This testimony can be seen in the image below.

Love keeps no record of wrongs done:

This means there’s a blotting out of wrongs done in the mind of the person. Even while Jesus was on the cross He prayed “Father forgive them for they know what not they do” He counted not their sins against them. Ore showed the exact same trait Jesus showed in her love walk today. This testimony can be seen in the image below.

Love is patient and kind:

Christ demonstrated and is still demonstrating this in so many ways. He was willing to bear how little faith his disciples had in Matthew 8:26, He was willing to bear Peter, James and John sleeping instead of praying and watching while He prayed in the garden of Gethsemane Matthew 26:36-46, He was willing to bear being humiliated, tortured and crucified Matthew 27:27-37, He was willing to bear false testimony against Him Matthew 26:59-63. He handled all these with grace and patience. In the same way Nnenne was able to respond in grace and love when unkind things were said towards her.

As Christ is, so are we. As He is the embodiment of love, so has he made us. These testimonies were able to show that walking in love is doable and can be done in its variety for every situation and circumstance. So let each day be a day of bearing the fruit of love for the Bible says of faith, hope and love, the greatest is love.

DAVILANDA

Romans 10:9-10
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

CALL TO SALVATION.
