When you hear the words “Gospel Music", what comes to your mind? Is it just music with Christian lyrics or music created for the entertainment of Christians? Gospel music is so much more!
Gospel music grants an opportunity for us to fellowship with God, minister to God, minister to people and preach the Gospel of Christ through music. It is much more than entertainment, there is so much power in gospel music.
Gospel music ministers about the Lord. I have seen so many case scenarios where an unbeliever hears gospel music and is automatically transformed, the music has suddenly made such a person change from being an unbeliever to giving his/her life to Christ and that is the power of gospel music, it ministers! Glory to God.
Gospel music has such amazing and strong words of God that when being played either for praise, worshipping or prayer purposes invites the strong presence of the Lord and miracles/healing takes place. People are praising God through the music and those with diseases or infirmities are healed and made whole. It has such power to change lives and situations.
Do you remember the story of Paul and Silas in the book of Acts 16 :25-26,“ And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed”, the power of God is present in gospel music, it (Gospel Music) has the authority of Christ. It is not just for entertainment, it is for so much more. Refuse to be one of those who limit its power.
Gospel music is also a way to praise and worship. You adore and honor the Lord by praising and worshiping Him but these (praise and worship) are different. Praising God is how we express His greatness and how much we adore Him in the spirited and joyful way. Psalm 146:1 says “Praise ye Lord! Praise theLord O my soul! “, you praise Him spiritually, on the other hand worshipping is honoring Him by expressing how much we love Him to Him. Praising and worshiping God is us declaring His lordship over our lives.
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
