Continuing from what we learnt on Sunday about King Jehoshaphat, if you didn’t get a chance to read it (here is a link).
Although King Jehoshaphat was greatly favored by the Lord he allied himself with King Ahab and this caused him to make a decision that was against the will of God, 2 Chronicles 18 and19. What happened was simple, King Jehoshaphat made the wrong relationships.
Someone asked a question one time, “If everyone is an influencer, who is being influenced?” The answer is very simple, everyone is being influenced. Man is built by influence from his environment and from others. It’s like ‘Osmosis’ which is simply the movement of particles from a region of a higher amount to a region of a lower amount to equalize the solution.
Your environment or relationships you have would influence you either consciously or subconsciously. The Bible says,
"So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart."
2 Timothy 2:22
"Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?"
2 Corinthians 6:14
If your friends are not working according to the word of God, do not stay there and say “I can handle this and this" FLEE!
I understand that you must help them but you can help them without associating with them, the power of God is greater than the distance.
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.”
It is my heartfelt prayer that the Spirit of God continues to guide you and that you are yielded and submitted to His will all the days of your life. Amen.
